Amnésie is Wilfried Thierry solo project. Starting as soon as 2001 with the collectif17ans, a gathering of noisy and iconoclast artists from Angers, France, he wins at this time a remix contest for Autechre, and releases some of his work on various compilation, including one on the famous Skam label. He then quickly join the recently created Ego Twister records label, which puts out his first EP, « Redken style » back in 2004.

He continues his activity under this moniker during the next years a dilettante, involved with various other projects in the fields of music or image. This doesn’t keep him away from performing live or releasing new tracks on compilations, until his first album, « Le trou noir », made available in 2012. Throughghout all those years he chose to have fun as Amnésie, by mixing perverted electro music with displaced lyrics.

In the beginning of 2014, Wilfried feels the need to reinvest his own project. He choses to isolate himself a few days, free from any external constraint. He locks himself up, without any contact with the outside world, taking care of getting rid of any sense of time passing by (hours, daylight, etc.).

As plunged into darkness, he digs by hand into the electronic tones of his modular synthesizer, that provides him with the material for his new EP. The rhythms clink against noises, emotions rises in crumbs from the sonic magma flowing out from his synth. The experience is short but intense for the artist facing up to himself, convinced to have found in those unsettled days a sonic form that brings back together everything that makes up his musical history : noise, dance, emotion.

Amnésie est le projet solo de Wilfried Thierry. Il débute en 2001 au sein du collectif17ans, un regroupement d'artistes angevins bruitistes et iconoclastes. Il remporte à cette époque un concours de remix d'Autechre et sort quelques titres sur des compilations, dont un sur le prestigieux label Skam. Il rejoint rapidement Ego Twister records, qui sort son premier EP, "Redken Style" en 2004.

Les années suivantes il poursuit ce projet en dilettante, occupé par de nombreux projets parallèles dans le domaine de la musique ou de l'image. Ce qui ne l'empêche pas de pratiquer régulièrement la scène et de participer à de nombreuses compilations, jusqu'à la sortie il y a deux ans de son premier album, Le Trou Noir. Pendant toute cette période il décide de s'amuser sous le nom d'amnésie, mêlant ainsi une electro dénaturée avec des paroles décalées.

Début 2014, il ressent le besoin de réinvestir pleinement ce projet. Il choisit de s'isoler quelques jours en s'affranchissant de toute contrainte extérieure. Il s'enferme seul, sans contact avec l'extérieur en prenant soin d'éliminer toute trace du temps qui s'écoule (heure, lumière du jour...).

C'est donc plongé dans l'obscurité qu'il décide de creuser à la main dans les sonorités électroniques de son synthétiseur modulaire la matière qui composera ce nouvel EP. Les rythmes s'entrechoquent avec le bruit, l'émotion surgit par bribes du magma sonore qu'il déverse. L'expérience est courte mais intense pour l'artiste qui se retrouve confronté à lui même, convaincu d'avoir trouvé dans ces quelques jours déstabilisants une forme sonore qui réconcilie ce qui compose son histoire musicale : le bruit, la danse, l'émotion.
